- Certificates (15 working days)
- The last-wills and life-insurance certificates can be requested from the Ministry of Justice once 15 working days have passed since the death.
- Inheritance tax (arts. 67 and 68 RD 1629/1991)
- 6 months from the death. You can ask for a further 6 within the first 5, with late-payment interest.
- Madrid region
- 99% relief for groups I and II and, since Law 2/2025, 50% for group III. It applies when the Madrid region is competent based on where the deceased lived.
- Municipal capital gains tax (art. 110 TRLRHL)
- For inheritances, 6 months from the death, extendable up to one year at the taxpayer's request.
- How we count
- Periods in months run date to date. If the final month has no such day, the period ends on its last day.
